From: The Powerboat Guide - The Midnight Lace 44 is the boat that put Tom Fexas on the map. The prototype was built in Stuart Florida and introduced at the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show in 1978 - Where she literally stole the show. Based on the elegant commuter style boats of the 1920's, The Midnight Lace 44 is a completely modern blend of lightweight cored construction and a highly efficient "penetrating" hull form. She featrures and very narrow beam with a fine entry, flared bow and tightly rounded bilges. The Midnight Lace's were built by Hong Kong's Golden Wave Shipyard and were offered with a choice of floorplans with a single or two stateroom layout. The unique forward cockpit is accessed from the forward stateroom.

Despite her narrow beam, The 44 Lace has a surprisingly spacious and comfortable cabin. The teak panelled main saloon has an "L" Shaped settee and table to starboard. The Galley is forward to Port. The main stateroom is next forward with an athwartships queen island berth. Teak cabinetry and lockers abound. The spacious head and stall shower are to Port with the guest stateroom all the way forward. A ladder leads from the stateroom aloft to the forward deck cockpit.
